Track and manage skills
See which skills your team uses, and send managed skills to Claude Code and Codex on your team's devices.
Skills teach an AI tool how to do a specific task, such as reviewing a diff or writing a release note. The Skills page shows which skills your organization uses and lets you send your own skills to people's devices.
Who can do this: Admins see every tab and can manage skills for anyone. Managers can see the Managed tab and manage skills for teams whose members all report to them. See Roles and permissions.
The three tabs
Go to Skills in the sidebar.
- Usage shows each skill seen in your organization, with Users, Cost, Sessions, and Last used. Use the date filter to choose the last 7, 30, or 90 days. A skill marked Configured is set up on a device but wasn't used in the range.
- Installed shows Codex skills reported by your team's devices, with Version, Files, and Last seen. Click a skill to read its files. Devices need a recent version of the Tokenize desktop app to report them.
- Managed lists the skills your organization sends to devices, who each one goes to, how many devices report it installed, and whether it's enabled.
Add a managed skill
- Open the Managed tab and click Add Skill.
- Fill in the form:
- Title: the name people see, for example "Code Review".
- Folder name: filled in from the title. Use lowercase letters, numbers, and dashes. You can't change it after the skill is added.
- Description: what the skill does and when to use it. Agents read this to decide when to run the skill. Up to 4,096 characters.
- Instructions: the steps, in Markdown. If you paste an existing SKILL.md, leave out the YAML header between the
---lines. - Supporting files: optional templates, examples, or references. Click Add file and use a path relative to the skill's folder, such as
reference/api.md. - Send to: the teams that receive the skill. Leave it empty to send it to all devices.
- Enabled: leave on to deliver the skill.
- Click Add skill.
Changes reach devices in about 15 minutes.
Which tools receive managed skills
The Tokenize desktop app installs managed skills for Claude Code and Codex on each device where those tools are set up. A device needs the desktop app installed and signed in. See Install Tokenize on your computer.
Edit, turn off, or remove a skill
Click a skill in the Managed table to see its files, size, and how many devices are Up to date. From there, click Edit or Remove.
- To pause a skill, click Edit and turn off Enabled. Devices remove it, and the skill stays saved in Tokenize.
- To delete it, click Remove and confirm. "This removes it from every device in your org."
Teams in Send to
The teams in Send to come from your directory. If the list is empty or out of date, check SSO and directory sync. Managers only see teams whose members all report to them.
Troubleshooting
"Someone else changed this config. We reloaded it. Check the latest and try again." Another person saved a change while you were editing. Review the latest version and make your change again.
"Give the skill a name." or "Add the skill's instructions." A required field is empty. Fill in Folder name, Description, and Instructions before you save.
"You don't have access to organization skill usage or managed skills." Your role doesn't include skills. Ask an admin.
