Connect GitHub
Install the Tokenize GitHub App so pull requests in Work Intelligence show their title and whether they're open, merged, or closed.
Connecting GitHub lets Tokenize read details about the pull requests your sessions worked on: the title and whether each one is open, merged, or closed. Those details appear on the Pull Requests section of Engineering and on project pages in Work Intelligence.
Tokenize links pull requests to sessions without this connection. GitHub only adds the details. Until it's connected, pull requests are grouped under No GitHub details and named by repository and number, such as owner/repo#123.
Who can do this: Admins.
Install the GitHub App
- Go to Settings → Integrations.
- On the GitHub card, click Connect GitHub. The button reads "Opening GitHub…" while GitHub loads.
- GitHub opens the install page for the Tokenize app. Pick the account or organization to install it on, and choose which repositories it can see.
- Approve the install. If the app is already installed on that account, GitHub shows the install's settings page instead. Click Save there, and authorize the app if GitHub asks.
- Tokenize shows "Completing the GitHub connection…", then "GitHub is connected. Repositories appear on the GitHub page as they sync." Click Back to GitHub.
Finish setup signed in to Tokenize as the same user, in the same organization, that clicked Connect GitHub.
Once an account is connected, the card's header shows a Connected badge. The card lists each GitHub account you've connected, with a status badge, whether it covers All repositories or Selected repositories, and how many repositories are available. Below that, a table shows each repository, its default branch, and whether it's Private or Public. Archived repositories are marked Archived.
"No repositories are currently available to this installation." means the install covers no repositories yet. Use Manage repository access to add some.
You can install the app on more than one GitHub account. Click Connect another account and repeat the steps. Each one gets its own entry on the card.
Change which repositories Tokenize can see
Click Manage repository access next to the account. It opens the app's settings on GitHub, where you can add or remove repositories. The change shows up on the card after GitHub applies it.
Disconnect GitHub
- On the GitHub card, click Disconnect next to the account.
- Confirm "Disconnect GitHub account …?".
Tokenize stops reading pull request details for that account until an admin connects it again.
Troubleshooting
"The GitHub App is not configured for this dashboard environment yet." GitHub isn't available for your workspace. Contact your Tokenize account team.
"GitHub status could not be loaded." Click Retry. If it keeps happening, reload the page.
"GitHub setup is temporarily unavailable" when you click Connect GitHub. Wait a few minutes and try again.
The badge next to an account reads "suspended" or "uninstalled". Someone changed the app's install on GitHub. Click Manage repository access to check it there, or click Connect GitHub to install it again.
"GitHub could not be connected. Use the same Tokenize user and organization that started setup, then start again from the GitHub page." Setup was finished from a different Tokenize user or organization than the one that started it. Sign in as the person who clicked Connect GitHub and start again.
"This setup is missing or expired. Start a new connection from the GitHub page." The setup link is too old or incomplete. Click Connect GitHub again.
"GitHub connection was canceled." The install was canceled on GitHub. Start again from the card.
Pull requests still show under "No GitHub details". Check that the repository is listed on the card. If it's missing, add it with Manage repository access.
