Connect Slack

Connect your Slack workspace so Tokenize can post alerts to a channel and send digests and coaching tips as direct messages.

Connecting Slack lets Tokenize post alerts to a channel you choose. It also lets Tokenize send weekly digests and coaching tips to people as direct messages.

Who can do this: Admins.

Connect your workspace

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations.
  2. On the Slack card, click Connect Slack.
  3. Slack opens. Review the permissions and approve the install.
  4. You return to Settings → Integrations with "Slack connected. Choose a channel for dashboard alerts." The card shows your workspace name.

Choose the alert channel

  1. On the Slack card, click the channel field and search for a channel.
  2. Pick the channel. You'll see "Alerts will be sent to #channel-name."

Private channels show up in the list only after you invite Tokenize to them in Slack. Invite the app from the channel, then reload the page.

To change channels later, pick a different one from the same field.

Send a test message

Click the settings button on the Slack card and choose Send Test. Tokenize posts "Test alert from the dashboard — your channel is wired up." to the alert channel. Nothing is added to alert history.

You'll see "Test message sent to Slack." when it works. Send Test is available only after you've chosen a channel.

Coaching DMs

The Slack coaching DMs switch controls whether people get coaching tips about their own sessions. Turning it off pauses coaching and its DMs. Alerts and weekly digests aren't affected. See Slack coaching.

Disconnect Slack

  1. Click the settings button on the Slack card and choose Disconnect.
  2. Confirm Disconnect.

Alerts, digests, and coaching tips stop going to Slack until an admin connects it again.

Troubleshooting

"Slack connection was canceled." The install was declined in Slack. Click Connect Slack and approve it.

"Slack could not be connected. Try again." Something went wrong during the install. Click Connect Slack again.

"Slack did not accept the test message. Check the connection and channel." The channel may have been archived or deleted, or Tokenize may not have access to it. Pick another channel, or invite Tokenize to a private channel, and try again.

"Slack authorization was revoked. Reconnect to resume alert delivery." Someone removed the app from your Slack workspace. Click Reconnect Slack and approve the install again.

A manager doesn't get alert DMs. Tokenize finds people in Slack by email. Check that their Tokenize email matches their Slack email. See Alerts.
